My dad, Kit Dove, was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare form of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure in October, 1999. Since then, our family has learned more about life in those few months than we have in 20 years.
I wanted to create a site where we could share stories, experiences, celebrate, and embrace not only my dad, but our common bond.
My dad died peacefully in his sleep on 20 April 2000.
While a private family ceremony will be held to scatter his ashes, a public celebration of my dad’s life, sponsored by MidCoast Park Lands, was held on June 17 in El Granada’s Quarry Park. It was more beautiful than anyone expected.
